Cyrus Mills isn’t a warm, fuzzy kind of person, and choosing a career as a veterinary pathologist seems a logical choice: He’s following in his late mother’s footsteps, and he gets to work in solitude, which he prefers.

cute story, warm-hearted wrap up to problems a la "It's A Wonderful Life"!

A great heartwarming yet heartbreaking story of a "veterinarian" who struggles to maintain a practice in the shadow of a father he chooses to disparage for reasons of his own. This book is filled with excellent characters, both human and canine/feline and was a delight to read. Made me laugh, made me cry, made me enjoy this book immensely. Highly recommended.

Not bad, but I found his non-fiction better.

The humor of this author in writing this delightful mystery is enough to give a pleasant yet quick read. It is easy to fall in love with every character since they all are so realistic. Despite the certainty that Frieda Fuzzypaws won't get killed by our friend Dr. Cyrus Mills the veterinarian from the start, it is a total surprise as to how the ending will come about for either of them.
