I was a little upset that I didn't like the book as much as most of the others by these authors until I realized that I had put expectations of perfection on them. This book is okay, entertaining, but definitely not one of their best

Constance totally rocks. Who knew she would turn out so badly?

I have rarely if ever read a thriller that was so complete s the Pendergast series is. Pendergast is the classic Sherlock Holmes guy, who prepares ahead and has all the answers, no matter what situation. In this book, he gets spiritually damaged, and he understands that he“…will never be whole.” This is the first book that I have read in the series, and it immediately drove me to read the rest. It was that good.

In a remote Himalayan monastery, an ancient Doomsday instrument vanishing from its inner sanctum leads to a murder investigation amidst the maiden trans-Atlantic voyage of the greatest ocean liner ever built. Agent Prendergast and Constance Green must uncover the mystery behind the bizarre killings of the passengers and the crew in order to retrieve an object that will be sure to destroy every civilization on Earth.

Though it is the new installment of the Agent Prendergast series, this novel can be read on its own due to its galloping plot and freshly-minted cast of characters (if it was a cereal, it would have a sunburst shape around the words "Now with All-New Characters!")
