A romantic drama set against the backdrop of Brooklyn's vibrant modern-folk music scene. After Franny's musician brother Henry is injured and hospitalized in a coma following a car accident, Franny returns home after a long estrangement and begins to use his notebook as a guide to how his life has evolved in her absence. As she seeks out the musicians and artists Henry loved, she meets James Forester, his musical idol, whose success and fame belie a shy and private man. A strong romantic connection develops between Franny and James. Can love bloom even under the most adverse circumstances?

Another NY Indie musical drama but a disappointing story with a forgettable soundtrack other than mixed in soundbites from a couple of oldies - "My Baby Just Cares for Me" by Nina Simone and "I Need You" by America. Unlike "Inside Llewyn Davis 2014," there was no John Goodman to incite the mood or Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan to perform the real music. And it certainly lacked the engaging story and pop tunes in "Begin Again 2014."

Oh, man. Opens with Ben Rosenfield singing a beautiful song in the subway. Then he gets hit by a car. This causes his sister to fly back to New York and sit by his comatose bedside. She goes on a musical treasure hunt, inspired by her brother's journal, and meets a very talented musician, who is entranced by her big sad eyes. I've never minded Anne Hathaway before (loved her in that wedding movie) but here, I realized that maybe she just never holds my interest, because her character doesn't do much besides look lovely and sad. Aside from the music scenes, everyone is so quiet. And there's no chemistry between the two leads. But the music is wonderful. I finally figured out that you can fast forward to all the performances, skipping boring family drama, and untalkative romance scenes. The music, I repeat, is amazing. I recommend the soundtrack to everyone, and will happily track down any of Johnny Flynn's recordings.

Famous singer sings along bedside of injured brother in the hospital. Good rustic music singing throughout the movie.

From Song One--"In April" (Lyrics)

The day we met my life was changed
I always heard that love was strange
and painful
painful

One night you slept upon your side
tangled in white you looked just like
an angel
an angel

So why did you fly away?
I've been dying a little death
since that very day
I used to laugh, when you told me
you must forget and forgive
to be free

Down by the water, dressed in black
I swore revenge to get you back
hateful
hateful

I made my camp upon the hill
drank whiskey from the secret still
blameful
blameful

So why did you fly away?
I've been dying a little death
since that very day
I used to laugh, when you told me
you must forget and forgive
to be free

And I never could admit
the part I had in it
so this is what I get, my friend

Drunk in a field of scarlet snow
I reconciled with your ghost
In April
April
